Reconstruction of access road, parking lots at One‘ula Beach Park beginning
‘EWA BEACH -- A Capital Improvement Project to reconstruct the access road and parking lots at One‘ula Beach Park (also known as Hau Bush) is scheduled to begin this week.
The access road begins at the end of Pāpipi Road in ‘Ewa Beach, and supplies vehicular access to three designated parking lots within the beach park.
The scope of the project includes: replacement of existing pavement with seal coated asphalt pavement, new concrete sidewalks & curbs, ADA parking stall improvements, new traffic signs and speed bumps.
The three renovated parking lots will contain nearly 60 regular and 5 ADA-compliant vehicular stalls.
This project does include the removal of five kiawe trees that are damaging the roadway.
The nearly $810,000 contract for this project was awarded to Peterson Bros Construction, Inc.
The reconstruction project is expected to be finished by spring 2021.
As of this announcement all City park locations remained closed due to efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Stand alone comfort stations and outdoor showers, including the ones located at One‘ula Beach Park, remain open under regular hours.
The access road and parking lots will be selectively closed throughout the project. The reconstruction will be conducted in phases to minimize impact on public parking, with the project beginning on the Wai‘anae-side of the park and progressing in the town direction. Other park facilities such as fields and the beach will reopen in accordance with Mayoral Emergency Orders.
Accommodations are available upon request concerning this announcement for persons with disabilities. Please call (808) 768-3003 or send an email to parks@honolulu.gov for further information. Mahalo and stay healthy.
